LEGISLATIVE SESSION UPDATE
OPPOSE SCR 1013: Pronoun use and bathrooms
This would establish rules related to pronoun use in schools and ban trans Arizonans from using school bathrooms, locker rooms, and shared facilities consistent with their gender identity.
This proposed legislative referral:
Makes it illegal for teachers and other school employees to respect the pronouns of a trans or non-binary student without written parental permission, for students who do have parental consent, it prevents schools from requiring employees to use their correct pronouns.
Takes direct aim at transgender students by restricting their ability to use restrooms, locker rooms, and other gender-segregated facilities.
This legislatively referred state statute has been assigned to the Senate Education Committee, but has not yet been added to an agenda.
HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO TAKE ACTION!
Call or Email Senator Ken Bennett, Chair of the Senate Education Committee now to ask
him NOT to put SCR1013 on the agenda.
